A recent post by the official SAF page has stirred controversy, featuring a photo of Sovereign Council head and SAF commander, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, visiting displaced people from el-Fashir in the Dabba area of North Darfur.
The caption read: “Patience, Al-Fashir… we are coming, God willing.”
Analyst’s say the visit is nothing more than a propoganda tool for Burhan.
Burhan’s visit also showed him consoling a displaced woman, who reportedly sought safety in his embrace, critics argue that such displays are largely symbolic. Activists and journalists noted that years of displacement and neglect cannot be resolved by brief gestures.
The Fashir Resistance Committees sharply condemned the SAF’s leadership, accusing officials of opportunism and neglect. They argued that those in power, who claim to represent Darfur, had not visited displaced people in Dabba before the post and fail to address the deeper humanitarian crisis.
