Burhan’s SAF accused of torturing prisoner in shocking video

The Sudanese Observatory for Human Rights condemned General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) on Saturday for what it described as the slaughter of prisoners inside detention centers, labeling the act a serious war crime and a blatant violation of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, which protect the rights of detainees.

The observatory stated that the field execution of the prisoner amounted to a crime against humanity, with grave legal and moral consequences.

A video circulating on social media on Saturday depicted a prisoner blindfolded and subjected to psychological and physical torture by SAF personnel.

The footage showed the man being repeatedly stabbed with a knife and threatened with beheading. The observatory described the incident as part of “a new crime in a series of crimes committed by Sudanese army personnel and their allied militias.”
In response, the Sudanese Observatory for Human Rights called on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to closely monitor these abuses. The group urged for accountability, offering to provide evidence and further details to support claims of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
