Burhan’s soldiers surrender to RSF in El Fasher

Dozens of General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army soldiers and allied militias surrendered to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, field sources have reported.

The development came as RSF advanced toward the 6th Infantry Division, prompting troops from the SAF and joint forces to withdraw and hand over their weapons.

Witnesses reported that groups of soldiers fled their positions in the city and surrendered without resistance as RSF pressure mounted.

The RSF announced preparations to seize the 6th Infantry Division, where the division’s commander has been under siege for nearly two years.

Reports indicated attempts were under way to evacuate the commander ahead of a potential RSF takeover of the strategic military site.

According to the sources, Burhan’s army command ordered the deactivation of heavy weapons and military equipment at the division headquarters before its withdrawal.

The situation in El Fasher highlights the growing RSF influence in Darfur, with the 6th Infantry Division now under imminent threat.

The surrender of soldiers has raised concerns about the army’s ability to maintain its positions as the conflict continues.
