Chad backs UN-led diplomacy as Deby presses for Sudan talks

Chadian President Mohamed Idriss Deby has reiterated his support for a comprehensive, UN-led political solution to the crisis in Sudan, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most reliable path to lasting peace.

Speaking during a meeting with ambassadors at Toumai Palace, Deby addressed mounting regional challenges and underlined Chad’s continued commitment to humanitarian efforts.

He said his country would keep backing United Nations initiatives aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan and alleviating civilian suffering, arguing that international cooperation is essential to restoring stability.

Deby added that, despite the region’s fragile and uncertain climate, sustained diplomatic engagement offers the strongest hope for long-term security.
