The Chinese Embassy in Sudan has called for its citizens to leave the country immediately due to worsening security conditions and escalating risks.
In an official statement, the embassy highlighted the deteriorating situation, with severe shortages in essential supplies like water, electricity, and fuel, further exacerbating the hardships faced by Sudanese residents.
Since the outbreak of conflict in April 2023, Sudan’s security situation has deteriorated rapidly. On Sudan, Port Sudan, the eastern city and current temporary capital of Sudan, experienced its first attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Drone strikes targeted a military airbase and infrastructure, including a fuel storage facility, completely destroying it.
Port Sudan, which now serves as the country’s temporary capital, is also home to diplomatic missions and United Nations agencies.
RSF have intensified attacks on both military sites and civilian infrastructure, further complicating Sudan’s already fragile security situation.
General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and RSF have been engaged in a brutal conflict since mid-April 2023, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and millions of displaced individuals.
