Sudan’s Ministry of Health has reported a concerning spike in cholera cases and deaths within the country.
According to the latest figures, the number of confirmed cases has reached 1223, with a tragic death toll of 48.
The ministry also noted that 102 new cases were detected in recent days.
Meanwhile, the ongoing floods and excessive rainfall in Sudan continue to pose a significant threat to public health and safety.
Since June, 138 people have lost their lives due to these natural disasters, and thousands of homes, businesses, and agricultural lands have been affected.
The rainy season in Sudan, typically occurring between July and October, often results in floods and inundations.
Historically, these events have claimed the lives of over 100 people annually.
The current situation is further exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in the country, which has severely disrupted the healthcare system and made it more difficult to combat epidemics.
