Civil administration: Burhan’s SAF broke truce in Babanousa

The head of the Civil Administration in West Kordofan has accused General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) of violating the declared humanitarian truce and confirmed that Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters have taken control of the army’s 22nd Infantry Division base in Babanousa.

Yousef Alayan, who leads the Civil Administration in the state, said the RSF is fully committed to the announced humanitarian ceasefire, while SAF units stationed inside the 22nd Infantry Division in Babanousa have not abided by the agreement.

According to the administration’s statement, troops from the 22nd Infantry Division broke the truce by launching an attack on RSF positions inside Babanousa. The RSF, it said, responded directly, repelling the assault and pursuing the attacking force back to the division’s headquarters, where RSF units then took control of the site.

The Civil Administration renewed its call on all parties to strictly respect the humanitarian truce in order to protect the security and safety of local residents. It warned that any breach of such agreements exposes civilians to grave risks and undermines efforts aimed at de-escalation and halting the fighting.
