Civilian dies under torture in SAF detention in Khartoum

A Sudanese civilian has died under torture inside SAF detention facilities in Khartoum state, according to his family. Relatives of the victim, identified as Majbour Hussein Majbour, told media that he died last week while being held in SAF custody as a result of torture and deliberate medical neglect.

One family member said military intelligence first arrested Majbour in March before releasing him. He was re arrested in September on accusations of cooperating with the Rapid Support Forces during their control of large parts of Khartoum.

According to the family, Majbour remained in detention until his death, which they say was caused by torture compounded by complications from diabetes. They added that prison authorities prevented him from receiving his diabetes medication while in custody.

The victim was 46 years old, lived in the Sajana neighbourhood of Khartoum, and worked as a rickshaw driver, a common form of local transport. The SAF is currently holding hundreds of civilians in detention facilities across Khartoum state, many without formal charges or access to legal safeguards.

In March, the SAF regained control of Khartoum from the Rapid Support Forces, which had seized much of the capital following the outbreak of the conflict.
