Civilian home hit in El-Obeid drone strike, killing ten

A drone strike in Sudan’s El-Obeid killed ten civilians, including seven children, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis. Medical sources confirmed the deaths on Monday, as residents struggled to cope with growing insecurity and limited emergency care.

The strike hit a house in the city centre, turning a civilian neighbourhood into a site of sudden loss. El-Obeid is the main city of North Kordofan, where civilians face repeated violence, shortages of food, and strained medical services.

Sudan has been at war since April 2023, leaving communities increasingly exposed as fighting spreads across strategic regions. Kordofan lies on vital routes linking Khartoum and Darfur, routes now disrupted, worsening access to aid and supplies.

Hundreds of thousands across the region face hunger, with humanitarian access constrained by ongoing instability. Earlier drone strikes caused power outages in El-Obeid, compounding daily hardships for residents and health facilities. The United Nations says the war has displaced more than 11 million people, creating the world’s largest hunger crisis.
