Conflicting accounts emerge over RSF reporter’s death in Kordofan

Conflicting accounts have emerged over the death of RSF war correspondent Bashar al-Nahli in Sudan’s Kordofan region, with reports citing either a vehicle accident or an alleged drone strike.

According to local Sudanese media, a statement attributed to RSF military media circles said Nahli died when a vehicle overturned while he was carrying out field duties in Kordofan.

Platforms supportive of the Sudanese Armed Forces circulated a different account, alleging that a drone strike killed him near Umm Sumeima.

Neither account has been independently verified, and the precise location and circumstances of his death remain unclear.

RSF-linked media circles mourned Nahli as a field correspondent, praising his work covering events. Reports of his death also circulated among outlets associated with the opposing side.
