Displaced Sudanese face worsening conditions amid Ramadan

Displaced people in Sudan’s Tawila, North Darfur, face worsening humanitarian conditions amid Ramadan due to lack of aid and basic services.

Sheikh Ahmed Yahya Bakhit said hundreds remain outdoors without shelter tents in harsh winter, while weak health services and scarce medical supplies fuel infections.

Hawa Adam Musa, a resident of Dabba Nayra camp, reported families lack water, shelter, and essential aid despite some monthly distributions.

Displaced families from Dali and Tawila Al-Umda camps said fires destroyed their homes, forcing them into new camps without assistance.

Affected residents called on humanitarian organizations, including the Norwegian Refugee Council, to intervene urgently and provide shelter, water, medical aid, and basic services.

Local leaders warned the situation risks turning into a full-scale humanitarian crisis, disproportionately affecting women, children, and the elderly.
