Dozens of civilians killed in SAF airstrikes targeting Sudan’s Nyala

Eyewitnesses report a “horrific massacre” as Nyala City, the capital of South Darfur comes under heavy SAF air strikes, leaving scores of civilians, including women and children, dead.

Reports from Al-Araby Al-Jadeed highlight nighttime bombings of the Riyadh and Khartoum neighborhoods, painting a grim picture of the aftermath with scenes of dismembered bodies and desperate rescue efforts.

Sudan’s conflict, which began in April 2023, pits General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan forces (SAF) against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.

This ongoing violence has claimed an estimated 150,000 lives and created what the UN describes as the largest displacement crisis globally, displacing over seven million people.

The Sudanese National Umma Party condemned the SAF strikes, emphasizing the toll on civilians, particularly women and children.

The party called for an immediate halt to the bombings, noting that attacks on residential areas and markets pose grave threats and warrant accountability.
