A drone attack hit Damazin overnight into Monday as fighting intensified in Sudan’s Blue Nile region, with the army and Rapid Support Forces issuing conflicting accounts of control over nearby Jebel Kadam.
Witnesses told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that explosions and anti-aircraft fire shook the regional capital late Sunday. The regional information ministry acknowledged an attempted drone attack and said security forces remained in control.
The Al Jazirah Observatory for Human Rights reported that a drone struck a petrol station, killing a worker. It also reported residents leaving the city on Monday morning and called for an independent investigation.
The attack followed competing claims over Jebel Kadam, on the eastern Kurmuk front. The army announced its capture on Saturday, while RSF fighters subsequently said they retained control. The army’s Fourth Infantry Division rejected that account.
Neither side’s claim could be independently verified.
The RSF’s official Telegram channel has also circulated a video claiming TASIS forces have surrounded Damazin. The post’s date and the claimed encirclement have not been independently verified.
