In a new escalation in Sudan’s conflict, the city of Kosti in White Nile State was struck by a drone attack on Thursday morning, 11 December 2025, leaving several soldiers dead and wounded, according to informed military sources.
The sources said the drone, operated by the Rapid Support Forces, targeted a SAF camp west of Kosti during the early hours of dawn. The strike killed and injured a number of soldiers and destroyed a military vehicle inside the camp, reflecting the scale of the losses caused by the attack.
According to the same sources, ground defences belonging to the 18th Infantry Division in Kosti intercepted several explosive drones attempting to enter the city’s airspace. The air defences managed to shoot down some of them, but the surprise attack still caused both human and material losses inside the targeted camp.
Kosti, home to the 18th Infantry Division, has been repeatedly targeted by aerial attacks from the Rapid Support Forces in recent months.
