Drone strikes kill civilians in El Geneina amid Darfur violence

Three civilians were killed in drone strikes on El Geneina in West Darfur on Tuesday, adding to growing fears in a region already devastated by ongoing conflict.

Local sources said one drone strike hit a passenger vehicle inside the city, killing three people, including a man in his nineties.

Several others were wounded as debris and damaged streets marked another violent day in the border city.

A second strike targeted an area near El Geneina’s central market, damaging homes, shops and vehicles, while also killing livestock nearby.

Residents described panic spreading through crowded neighbourhoods as smoke rose above the city and families rushed to safer areas.

Sources also said another drone strike destroyed a military vehicle, though no casualties among soldiers were reported.

El Geneina has come under repeated drone attacks amid continuing clashes across Darfur and worsening humanitarian conditions affecting thousands of civilians.

The violence came as drone strikes also hit Al-Daein in East Darfur early Tuesday, targeting civilian sites.

Several guards and civilians were reportedly injured, although no official casualty figures have been released.

On Monday, a separate drone strike targeted commercial vehicles in Karnoi, North Darfur, injuring civilians and setting several vehicles ablaze.
