The original Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) welcomed the formation of the Sudan Founding Alliance’s Peace and Unity Government on Sunday, calling it a crucial step toward restoring national unity, ending the conflict and promoting justice and democracy.
In a statement issued by its media office, the party pledged full support for measures including an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities, transitional justice and accountability, the establishment of a civilian democratic regime reflecting the people’s aspirations, and the construction of a state based on voluntary unity, balanced development and inclusive peace.
It urged all political, social and armed actors to put the national interest above narrow agendas and to engage in the peace process in good faith.
