Egypt and UK discuss crises in Sudan, other regions

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell in Cairo on Thursday to discuss regional developments, particularly the situations in Sudan, Gaza and Syria.

Concerning Sudan, Abdelatty called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the swift delivery of humanitarian aid, and support for the country’s national institutions.

During the meeting, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s efforts to achieve an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. 

He strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling them a violation of international law and demanding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.   

Regarding Syria, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for the country’s stability and territorial integrity, emphasizing the need for an inclusive political transition led by Syrians themselves.

The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the UK.
