Armed men in General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) uniforms robbed residents in Omdurman’s Block 8 early Monday, stealing at least 25 mobile phones from multiple homes, witnesses told local outlets.
A victim, teacher Imad al-Din Mustafa, said he confronted an intruder around 5:20 a.m. before two men with Kalashnikov rifles threatened him and fired warning shots. Residents said complaints were filed with police.
Omdurman has reported a spate of violent robberies in recent weeks, including three deaths and the kidnapping and armed robbery of a gold trader. Police said suspects in the latter case have been detained.
Port Sudan junta did not immediately comment on Monday’s incident.
