Fierce battles continue between Burhan’s army and RSF

Intense clashes erupted Wednesday between the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum and Sennar State.

Residents reported hearing powerful explosions as thick plumes of smoke billowed over central Khartoum, marking another day of bloodshed in the war-torn capital.

Activists confirmed that battles also broke out in the Al-Dali and Al-Mazmum regions of Sennar.

Six people reported killed in western Sudan’s North Darfur State, according to a local relief committee.

In Omdurman, west of Khartoum, heavy artillery shelling struck residential areas, killing a child and wounding five civilians, the Khartoum State Health Ministry reported.

The shelling mainly hit the Al-Thawra neighborhood and Albulk’s girls’ school, leaving victims with varying degrees of injuries, officials confirmed.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been gripped by a devastating war, displacing 14 million people and killing at least 20,000, according to the UN.

However, recent research from U.S. universities suggests the real death toll may be as high as 130,000, highlighting the true scale of the humanitarian disaster.
