A new fire in Omdurman has highlighted the vulnerability of vehicle repair workshops to rapid ignition and nearby residential risks.
A large blaze erupted on Friday inside a car repair workshop in Al-Thawra neighbourhood, block 20, near Al-Wadi Street in Omdurman.
Several vehicles were engulfed as flames surged through the site, feeding on combustible materials common in maintenance workshops.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke billowed into the sky, sparking panic among residents before firefighters reached the scene.
Fire crews managed to contain the blaze, preventing its spread to neighbouring properties in the densely populated area.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the cause or damage, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.
