Hilu calls on civilians to leave Kadugli and Dilling

Developments on the ground in South Kordofan are highlighting rapidly accelerating military and political movements, as displacement from the cities of Kadugli and Dilling continues to rise.

Kadugli, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement North, led by Abdelaziz al Hilu, announced on Friday that it has instructed its forces to secure roads and open corridors for civilians leaving Kadugli and Dilling towards areas under its control in South Kordofan.

In a statement published on social media, the movement said it is coordinating with humanitarian organisations to provide available basic services to those arriving, despite the steadily increasing number of displaced people.

The chief of staff of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army North, Ezzat Koko Angelo, urged residents of Kadugli and Dilling to leave the two cities immediately and to stay away from military sites belonging to SAF and Islamist brigades, in order to protect their lives and property.

The statement said SPLA North leadership had issued clear directives to open crossings, secure civilian departures, and receive displaced people in areas under the movement’s control, while continuing coordination with humanitarian organisations to meet essential needs.

Angelo also addressed officers and soldiers of the 14th Infantry Division in Kadugli and the 54th Infantry Brigade in Dilling, calling on them to hand over the two cities without losses or destruction. He said the ongoing fighting does not represent their battle, but instead serves, according to the statement, central elites seeking to remain in power and control resources.

The SPLM North chief of staff concluded by stressing that the Sudan People’s Liberation Army North and the Tasees forces will continue military operations until full control of all cities, extending as far as Port Sudan, affirming that fighting will continue until victory is achieved.
