
Fighting between General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has escalated across Kordofan, where both sides are battling for control of key towns despite stalled international mediation and a failed ceasefire.
Burhan’s army claimed to expand operations in West, North, and South Kordofan, launching a major offensive on SPLM-N areas allied with the RSF.
The SPLM-N said it later won the fight against Burhan’s forces and recaptured Qardud Nyama.
In West Kordofan, earlier, the RSF to have captured Babanusa and a SAF division headquarters.
RSF has called for a ceasefire, a truce suggestion denied by Burhan.
The conflict has also intensified in Darfur, where RSF advanced towns held by Burhan’s army militias.
UN agencies warn that violence is driving new waves of displacement, with more than 106,000 people fleeing parts of North Darfur in recent weeks.
