An international conference on Sudan aimed at supporting peace and reconstruction is scheduled to take place in Berlin on April 15, 2026, as part of ongoing global efforts to address the country’s political and humanitarian crisis.
Sources familiar with the preparations said invitations have been extended to around 40 Sudanese political and civil society figures, as well as independent personalities.
A preparatory meeting is expected to be held in Addis Ababa between April 10 and 12 under the sponsorship of the “Quint Mechanism,” which includes the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union, the Arab League and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
According to the sources, the preparatory talks aim to establish a committee from among the participants to oversee Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, paving the way for structured discussions during the Berlin conference.
However, disagreements have emerged over the list of invitees, with some political groups reportedly excluded. Among those not invited is the Popular Congress Party faction led by Amin Mahmoud, along with other actors.
The distribution of invitations reportedly includes four seats each for the Democratic Bloc, the “Somoud” group, and the National Forces Coordination, as well as one seat each for the Sudanese Communist Party and the Baath Party led by Al-Rayeh Al-Sanhouri, in addition to invitations extended to independent figures.
The Berlin meeting will mark the third such international gathering on Sudan. A conference held in Paris on April 15, 2024 focused on humanitarian needs, while a follow-up meeting in London on April 15, 2025 resulted in pledges totaling around 800 million euros to support Sudan.
