Minni Arko Minnawi questions SAF failures in El Fasher

Darfur’s de facto governor Minni Arko Minnawi said he has not fled Port Sudan, the SAF-run interim administrative capital, rejecting rumors that he abandoned his post.

Speaking at a meeting launching a campaign to lift the siege of El Fasher, Minnawi said the responsibilities of this “critical moment” do not allow him to step back or leave the scene. “The burden is heavy; this is not the time for anyone to run and leave the battle,” he said.

Minnawi questioned why combat-ready SAF units had not moved toward El Fasher despite their overwhelming numbers, noting the question is being asked widely among the public and officials as the city’s suffering persists.

He accused the international community of ignoring Sudan’s plight, saying El Fasher and other areas have received little meaningful support while, in his words, the RSF now commands substantial financial resources.

Minnawi dismissed what he called repetitive global rhetoric about human rights and values as empty slogans that fail to reflect realities on the ground. Quoting a Sudanese proverb—“No one scratches your skin like your own fingernail”—he argued that solutions must come from within Sudan rather than from abroad.
