New dengue cases reported in Nyala

The South Darfur Ministry of Health confirmed 13 new dengue fever cases out of 21 suspected samples on Monday. The General Administration of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control said the latest infections were detected in the Khartoum Balil neighbourhood of Nyala North locality.

Since the first case on 21 October 2025, the total number of dengue infections in the state has risen to 227, including one death. Nyala North continues to report the highest caseload with 146 cases, followed by 79 in Nyala municipality.

Single cases have also been confirmed in Al-Malm and Ad-Darfur localities, while the only recorded death occurred in Nyala North. The ministry’s Health Promotion Department has carried out awareness campaigns in affected areas to help contain the spread of the disease.

Dengue fever is transmitted by infected Aedes mosquitoes, mainly Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, and has been reported in several Sudanese states, including Khartoum.
