Peace Government: Victory built on unity, not hatred or chaos

The Peace Government’s (TASIS) Central Region on Thursday urged communities in Sennar, White Nile and Al-Jazirah not to respond to recent calls for mobilization it blamed on the “remnants” of the old order.

In a statement, the regional office said the mobilization appeals came as those forces’ mercenaries have been routed in recent fighting in Darfur and Kordofan and after they faced international condemnation and diplomatic isolation. The statement warned that the calls aim to stoke hatred and chaos, and appealed to civilians not to offer their sons as “sacrifices” to those who the government accused of humiliating communities and spreading poverty and ignorance.

The Central Region framed the situation as a turning point, saying a “sweeping and imminent victory” is coming and stressing that it will be built on unity and popular support, not revenge. It pledged protection for civilians’ property and honor, urged people to shun groups pushing for continued war, and described the Founding Forces as disciplined, trained units returning to liberate marginalized areas and redress historical grievances.

The statement concluded with a call to resist inflammatory media and to trust that the incoming forces are from within the communities themselves — not outsiders seeking revenge.
