Power outages affected several regions of Sudan on Friday after a key electricity transmission line between Merowe and Atbara went out of service, the Sudan Electricity Company said.
The disruption hit River Nile and Red Sea states, as well as parts of Khartoum, following a technical fault on one of the national grid’s main lines.
Authorities introduced an emergency electricity distribution schedule while engineering teams began repair work.
Officials said restoring the line may take several days due to the complexity of the fault.
The company apologised to citizens and said efforts are ongoing to stabilise the grid and restore normal power supply.
