Red Cross urges safe passage for civilians trapped in Sudan war

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has urged safe corridors for civilians trapped in Sudan’s escalating war. ICRC spokesman Adnan Hezam said violence and military operations are worsening the humanitarian tragedy, especially in North Darfur’s Tawila town.

Hezam called on both the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to allow aid access and protect civilians. The RSF recently seized El-Fasher from Burhan’s army. Since April 2023, fighting between SAF and RSF has killed thousands and displaced millions.

The Red Cross warned that humanitarian access remains blocked as the crisis deepens across Sudan.
