RSF accuses Burhan’s army of deadly attacks on civilians in Darfur

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces said on Wednesday that General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army had carried out deadly attacks against civilians in several conflict-affected parts of the country.

In a statement, the group accused Burhan’s army, which is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, of targeting a crowded market in Sarf Umra, in North Darfur, leaving dozens of people dead and injured.

The RSF stated the strike was part of an ongoing campaign of bombardment against civilian areas that it said contained no military positions or strategic targets.

It added that the incident followed recent strikes on Al-Daein Hospital, as well as attacks on markets and residential neighbourhoods in Al-Fashir and Manawashi across the Darfur region.

The RSF also pointed to violence in Al-Mujlad and Lagawa in Kordofan, alleging that repeated shelling and air strikes had killed or wounded hundreds of civilians.

The war has devastated once-busy towns, turning markets and hospitals into symbols of the growing vulnerability of civilians as frontlines continue to shift.

The RSF said the attacks represented serious violations that threaten civilian safety and worsen the humanitarian crisis across Sudan.

It pledged to continue efforts aimed at restoring stability, protecting civilian rights and supporting the creation of a democratic state based on equal citizenship.

The group also called for the formation of a unified national army loyal to the state rather than political factions, outlining its vision for Sudan’s future governance.
