Al-Basha Tabiq, an adviser to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has accused the Islamist Movement of attempting to infiltrate RSF ranks by recruiting individuals he described as “weak-minded.”
In a post on his Facebook page, Tabiq said the Islamist Movement has resorted to stirring tribal tensions within communities in the Darfur region, with the aim of fueling divisions, undermining trust among social groups, and mobilizing advocates of tribal extremism to carry out what he described as destabilizing plots.
His remarks come at a time of rising tensions in Darfur, amid warnings that growing tribal divisions could further complicate Sudan’s crisis and worsen its repercussions on the ground.
