RSF arrests two in Nyala over collaboration with Burhan’s army

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have detained two men in Nyala, South Darfur, due to collaboration with Sudan’s General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army, local sources reported.

Witnesses said RSF intelligence personnel arrested Al-Fadil Mohammed, a schoolteacher, from Nyala’s popular market last Thursday. He was later transferred to Dagris Prison, west of the city.

Relatives said Al-Fadil’s detention stemmed from allegations he was cooperating with government officials in Port Sudan, where the army maintains authority.

According to his family, the teacher’s only task had been collecting salaries on behalf of colleagues, as his bank account allowed transactions through the Bank of Khartoum.

Teachers in Nyala said Al-Fadil had been handling money transfers to ensure staff received wages, as payments now originate from Port Sudan.

They warned that arrests of representatives and financial agents are increasing, describing it as pressure by the RSF to force teachers back into classrooms.

Several expressed fears over recent Education Ministry demands for detailed staff lists, suspecting salaries could be cut for those in RSF-controlled areas.

Separately, sources said RSF personnel also arrested Ibrahim, an accountant with the junta-led Health Ministry, on Tuesday. No explanation has been provided for his detention.

Since relocating to Port Sudan, the South Darfur state government has suspended nearly 600 employees, including teachers, accusing them of cooperating with RSF authorities.

Officials pledged that salaries would continue only for those complying with government directives, further deepening tensions in a state already torn by war and divided authority.
