Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Wednesday they had taken control of Kassu in the Jebel al-‘Uweinat range near the Sudan-Libya-Egypt border and were pushing southeast toward the Nile-river town of Ad-Dabbah in Northern State.
Video released by the group and shared on social media showed fighters in pickup trucks driving through rocky terrain the RSF identified as Jabal Kassu.
The footage appeared to show no presence of General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) regulars or allied jihadist units.
“The SAF and its allied movements fled Kassu,” an RSF statement said, vowing to pursue regime forces “all the way to Ad-Dabbah.”
The SAF, which has been locked in a nationwide war with the RSF since April 2023, did not immediately comment.
