Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) say they have captured Rihad al-Nuba, a strategic town on the Omdurman–Bara highway roughly 20 km southwest of Omdurman, and intend to press on toward the capital, according to a video released on social media early Friday.
The advance deepens a month-long RSF push across Kordofan, where the group claims to have retaken Al-Dibaibat and Al-Hammadi in South Kordofan, Al-Khawi in West Kordofan and Kazgil in North Kordofan.
Separately, the SPLM-N faction led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu said its fighters seized the Dashoul area on the Kadugli-Dilling road in South Kordofan.
The RSF, which has battled General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) for more than a year, is now seeking to encircle Al Obeid and open a new axis toward Omdurman, Sudan’s second-largest city and twin city to Khartoum.
