The head of Sudan’s TASIS Presidential Council and commander of the Rapid Support Forces, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, announced that operational restraints on TASIS forces in the Kordofan region had been lifted.
Dagalo made the remarks following a meeting of the Security and Defence Council, which he chaired, addressing TASIS fighters deployed on the front lines.
“Thank you very much for the heroism you have shown,” Dagalo said. “You have done your duty, and good news is coming.”
He claimed that his forces had achieved major battlefield gains in Kordofan during the previous 24 hours, saying TASIS fighters had dealt a significant blow to what he described as the “Islamist Movement’s army and its militias.”
Dagalo also ordered troops to stop filming military operations and instructed commanders to identify and remove suspected members of what he called the “fifth column.” He stressed the need for strict compliance with military discipline and rules of engagement.
The RSF commander said he remained committed to peace, easing the suffering of civilians and restoring stability.
“From today onwards, I have released the reins of the forces, and there will be no turning back,” Dagalo said. “You will soon hear good news.”
His remarks signal the possibility of an intensified military campaign in Kordofan, where fighting between TASIS-aligned forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied groups has escalated in recent days.
