The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced a significant milestone on Saturday, capturing the critical stronghold of Bot in Blue Nile State. This victory marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict, reinforcing the RSF’s position in the region and advancing their broader military strategy, referred to as “Plan B.”
The RSF claimed their forces delivered a decisive blow to General al-Burhan’s (SAF) and their allies, including groups aligned with the Islamic Movement.
The offensive reportedly forced SAF units into a hasty retreat, with substantial losses in personnel and military assets. The RSF stated they seized a considerable stockpile of weapons and ammunition during the operation, which they plan to integrate into their strategic arsenal.
Describing the capture of Bot as a turning point, the RSF emphasized its importance as one of Blue Nile State’s largest and most strategically significant localities.
The group framed the victory as part of their ongoing mission to dismantle what they label as “terrorist factions” and foreign mercenary forces, accusing them of perpetuating instability across Sudan.
This latest development underscores the intensifying power struggle between the RSF and SAF, with both sides vying for control in key regions. The RSF framed their actions as part of a broader effort to rebuild state institutions and move Sudan toward a future based on justice and democracy, rejecting what they called the oppressive legacy of previous regimes.
