RSF condemns Muslim Brotherhood’s attack on civilians Al-Daein market

A drone strike hit the central market in Al-Daein, East Darfur, on Sunday, killing dozens of civilians, mostly women and children.

The Rapid Support Forces condemned the attack on its Telegram account, attributing it to General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s ally, the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group, calling it a deliberate assault on noncombatants.

The RSF described the strike as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant disregard for protections afforded to civilians in conflict.

Officials stressed that targeting marketplaces and civilian infrastructure devoid of military presence constitutes a war crime under global conventions and legal standards.

The attack, occurring during the holy month of Ramadan, underscores what the RSF called the perpetrators’ contempt for life, religious values, and humanitarian norms.

Witnesses reported flames and chaos as residents fled, while smoke from the damaged market darkened the Al-Daein skyline in a harrowing display of destruction.

The RSF urged the international community, UN agencies, and human rights organizations to condemn the strike and launch transparent, independent investigations into the incident.

Authorities vowed accountability for both those who carried out the strike and the leaders who ordered it, emphasizing that justice must follow.

In a statement, the RSF reaffirmed solidarity with victims’ families and pledged continued efforts to protect civilians and pursue the leaders of the Islamic Movement.

The incident adds to ongoing instability in East Darfur, where tensions between armed groups have repeatedly endangered civilians and strained humanitarian operations.
