The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) opened a forum in El Geneina on Saturday to evaluate the performance of the civil administrations it established across territory under its control in Darfur and West Kordofan.
The meeting brought together Huzaifa Abu Nubah, head of the RSF Advisory Council; Al‑Nazir Mukhair, adviser to civil administrations in Darfur; and chiefs of civil and constituent councils from South, Central, East and West Darfur, plus West Kordofan.
Abu Nubah said the RSF’s war effort is rooted in “transferring power to the people,” adding that Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) has “sided with the popular demand for civilian rule.” He said the RSF is prepared to receive the “Government of Peace and Unity” that the TASIS coalition is expected to announce in coming days.
“Despite limited resources, these administrations established security, safeguarded property and became a model to emulate,” he said.
West Darfur civil administration chief Tijani al‑Tahir Karshom called the review essential after an experiment launched under “extremely complex circumstances” that pushed some states to “near total collapse.” He credited the structures with restoring security, delivering basic services and reinforcing social cohesion.
“We thank all civil leaders and security bodies who assumed responsibility in exceptional times and helped rescue the situation,” Karshom added.
The RSF set up civilian civil administrations in areas it governs. Officials at the forum acknowledged expectations that these bodies could be dissolved once the TASIS-backed civilian cabinet — dubbed the Government of Peace and Unity — is formally unveiled.
