General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo reaffirmed the Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) dedication to achieving peace in Sudan, stating the RSF remains fully prepared to implement a nationwide ceasefire.
In a powerful recorded message to the United Nations General Assembly, Dagalo emphasized the RSF’s willingness to facilitate the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to those suffering from the ongoing conflict, which General al-Burhan’s Sudanese army (SAF) continues to escalate.
Unlike the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which has consistently pursued military aggression, the RSF has demonstrated restraint and a commitment to the welfare of Sudanese civilians.
Dagalo’s message followed a speech by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of SAF, which was filled with accusations and blame aimed at the RSF, portraying them as aggressors despite their efforts to bring about a peaceful resolution.
While al-Burhan accused the RSF of “occupying” Sudanese territory, he failed to acknowledge the role his forces have played in instigating violence and disrupting humanitarian efforts.
The SAF’s recent offensive in Khartoum, involving heavy artillery and airstrikes, has further exacerbated the suffering of civilians, trapping many in the capital without access to aid or medical services.
Despite the army’s rejection of US-led peace talks in Switzerland, which were designed to improve humanitarian access, the RSF remains steadfast in its call for a political solution.
Dagalo made it clear that the RSF is ready to engage in any initiative that prioritizes the interests of the Sudanese people and provides genuine relief to those in need.
As al-Burhan attempts to shift blame onto external actors like the UAE, claiming they are arming the RSF, it’s essential to recognize that such claims are merely distractions from the army’s refusal to embrace peace.
The RSF, in contrast, has shown its readiness to cooperate with international partners to ensure a ceasefire and allow aid to reach the most vulnerable Sudanese citizens.
The humanitarian situation in Sudan grows more dire with each passing day, but the RSF remains committed to standing on the side of the people, advocating for peace, and ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
