RSF: Muslim Brotherhood struck Sudanese hospital

The Rapid Support Forces said on Saturday that more than 62 people were killed in an airstrike on Al-Daein Teaching Hospital, including 12 children, while 113 others were wounded.

In a statement, the group described the strike as a serious escalation, adding that rescue teams were still searching through rubble as some victims remained trapped beneath the debris.

The attack took place on Friday evening, causing heavy civilian casualties and extensive damage to the hospital.

According to the statement, the hospital’s upper floor was destroyed, the emergency department severely damaged, and vital medical equipment rendered unusable, leaving the facility largely unable to treat patients.

The Rapid Support Forces accused the Muslim Brotherhood of carrying out the strike, saying civilians seeking medical care were deliberately targeted amid escalating violence in the region.

The group described the incident as a war crime, arguing that the attack violated international humanitarian law and protections for civilians and medical facilities under the Geneva Conventions.

Local residents expressed anger and grief following the bombing, the statement said, as families mourned relatives killed in the attack.

The Rapid Support Forces said it stood in solidarity with the victims’ families and pledged to pursue accountability against those responsible, regardless of rank or position.

It called on the United Nations and international human rights organisations to open independent investigations and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

The group also warned that it reserved the right to respond, describing the strike as part of what it called a broader pattern of systematic violence against civilians.

The claims and casualty figures could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate public response from those accused.
