Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces has said in a statement that it is ready to work closely with the United Nations to support humanitarian operations in Darfur and Kordofan.
In a statement, the Forces said they aim to ease the delivery of aid and guarantee safe access for humanitarian workers operating in conflict-affected areas.
The pledge followed a visit by a senior UN delegation to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, which the group described as successful.
The delegation included representatives from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the UN Department of Safety and Security. During the visit, officials assessed conditions facing internally displaced people and reviewed humanitarian services at displacement sites.
UN officials also heard first-hand accounts from displaced families, documenting urgent needs and the daily hardships caused by ongoing fighting.
The team toured several locations in El Fasher, including displacement centres, hospitals, UN offices and the city’s central market. Sites operated by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Food Programme and UNHCR were among those visited, the statement said.
RSF said they provided security before, during and after the visit, ensuring the delegation’s safe movement. They added that the mission ended with the UN team arriving safely in Tawila locality.
The group said the security arrangements showed its capacity to provide a stable environment for humanitarian work and reaffirmed its commitment to continued coordination with international organisations supporting relief efforts in Sudan.
