Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have released nine detained medical workers in the South Darfur city of Nyala.
The Sudan Doctors Network said the medics were freed from Daqris and Kober prisons, both controlled by the RSF.
While welcoming the release as a positive step, the group said it must be followed by the unconditional release of all detained medical staff, alongside firm guarantees for their safety and respect for their rights under international law.
The network also called for immediate access for United Nations agencies, saying families continue to live in silence and fear as detainees are held under enforced secrecy and dire conditions in Nyala.
