RSF says dealt a crushing blow to army-aligned groups in Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Tuesday that they had decimated a large convoy of armed opposition movements in North Darfur, inflicting heavy losses.

The clash near Malha is the latest in an ongoing series of battles for control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, which has been under RSF siege since April.

The Joint Force, composed of army-aligned groups, has mobilized fighters from across the region, including from Libya, in an effort to break the siege.

According to an RSF statement, their forces had “crushed a mobile force of hundreds of combat vehicles,” killing over 450 fighters and capturing 137 vehicles.

This battle is part of the wider conflict that erupted in Sudan in May between the RSF and General al-Burhan’s army (SAF), with the RSF already controlling four of Darfur’s five states.
