The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Friday that they had captured the Umm Arda area near El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan, claiming a major victory against General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
The RSF said its forces pursued troops who withdrew from Umm Arda, leaving behind weapons and military equipment that were being inventoried.
According to the statement, RSF forces have also advanced along the Kordofan and Blue Nile fronts, penetrating what it described as enemy positions and taking control of several strategic locations.
The group said the latest advances marked a turning point in the conflict and formed part of broader military plans to expand its territorial control.
The RSF also said it remained committed to protecting civilians and their property in areas under its control. It urged residents to stay away from military operations for their safety.
The group described its recent battlefield gains as a step towards what it called the liberation of remaining areas and the establishment of a Sudanese state based on justice, equality and the rule of law.
