The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said they routed a SAF column at Rahid al-Nuba in North Kordofan and pursued troops “to the outskirts of Omdurman,” claiming heavy losses and the capture of vehicles and weapons. The RSF framed the operation as part of a wider push toward the capital.
Rahid al-Nuba sits on the strategic export road linking Bara to Omdurman, roughly 20 km south of Omdurman, an area where control has seesawed for months as both sides vie to secure forward defenses and supply routes.
An RSF spokesperson said the SAF and allied militias suffered “huge” losses—more than 600 killed—figures the SAF has not publicly addressed and which could not be verified. Independent outlet Al-Taghyeer reported the RSF’s casualty claim on Wednesday.
Fighting along the Kordofan axis has intensified this month, with both sides announcing advances and counter-attacks around Rahid al-Nuba, Kazgil and other towns. Analysts note the battles aim to shape access between Darfur, Kordofan and greater Khartoum.
