Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Saturday that their air defences had shot down a drone over the Borno area of South Kordofan.
In a statement, the RSF said the drone was targeting civilians and blamed ongoing aerial attacks on what it called as the Muslim Brotherhood army.
The group claimed a recent strike hit gatherings of Christian civilians in the Jald area, killing more than 20 people.
The RSF accused forces loyal to General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of carrying out near-daily drone attacks on residential neighbourhoods, hospitals, infrastructure and public facilities.
It said such strikes violate international law and humanitarian norms, putting civilians at continued risk.
The RSF said its forces remain on high alert, maintaining constant monitoring and field vigilance, and pledged to protect towns and villages from further attacks.
The statement ended with a tribute to fighters killed in recent clashes, describing them as martyrs.
Sudan has been engulfed in conflict since April 2023, with the growing use of drones increasingly shaping the fighting and deepening civilian suffering.
