RSF seizes weapons, drones from militias near El Fasher

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Tuesday they had seized advanced weapons and drones allegedly used by Islamic Movement-aligned militias near El Fasher Airport in North Darfur. The RSF reported confiscating modern combat systems, including reconnaissance drones and devices capable of conducting precision strikes against civilian areas.

The group described the haul as fresh evidence that the militias were deploying prohibited or illegal weapons to target residential neighbourhoods around the embattled city. According to the statement, RSF units acted after extended surveillance and tracking of militia movements across the wider El Fasher region.

The forces said the operation was designed to disrupt planned attacks and dismantle what they described as a growing threat to local communities. The RSF stressed that its activities were aimed at protecting civilians and securing the perimeter of El Fasher amid escalating tensions. It also pledged to prevent any attempts by armed groups to threaten the safety of residents or destabilise the area.
