Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have deployed fresh reinforcements to the Kordofan region, eyewitnesses said on Monday, signalling a widening military push. Sources said military convoys were advancing towards Al-Abyad, the capital of North Kordofan State, as part of the build-up.
Witnesses reported spotting about 50 Land Cruiser combat vehicles in Wad Banda, heading towards Al-Nuhud and Al-Abyad. The vehicles were heavily armed, carrying Dushka anti-aircraft guns and quad cannons. The latest reinforcements come as the RSF consolidates control across West Kordofan State, tightening its grip on key strategic areas.
The group recently captured SAF 22nd Division in Babanusa and the Heglig oil field, bolstering its economic and military leverage. RSF influence now extends across parts of North and South Kordofan and much of Darfur, reshaping the balance of power in Sudan’s conflict.
