Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has said it had shot down a Russian-made Ilyushin military aircraft belonging to the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army over Babnusa in West Kordofan State.
In a statement issued on November 4, the RSF said the plane was targeted after carrying out air raids on several areas, including Wad Banda, Al-Fula and Babnusa, which allegedly killed and injured civilians.
The group accused Burhan’s army of striking residential areas and markets, calling the attacks violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against humanity.
The RSF urged the international community to hold those responsible accountable and vowed to continue fighting until what it called “independent national decision-making” is restored.
SAF has not yet commented on the claim, and independent verification of the incident remains unavailable.
