Al Amora chief Othman Abu Anja has praised the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North after their reported capture of Qeisan.
In a statement, Abu Anja congratulated the allied forces on securing the strategic border area.
The operation could shift the balance of power along the frontier as fighting continues in the region.
Military commanders said coordinated attacks broke through defensive positions and allowed the forces to advance rapidly through the township.
The reported capture also highlights closer coordination between the RSF and SPLM-North as they seek to strengthen their positions in the area.
Local authorities welcomed the advance, saying it could improve security for residents who had been caught in the fighting.
