RSF stops coordinated SAF, Islamic Movement attack in Sennar

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) successfully repelled a large-scale, coordinated assault by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied extremist militias backed by the Islamic Movement under General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, according to an RSF statement on Friday.

The confrontation occurred on Thursday in the Gabel Moya and Gabel Sagdi regions, situated between Sennar and White Nile states, where RSF forces delivered a decisive counterattack against the advancing troops.

Since seizing control of these key strategic areas in June, RSF forces have consistently fended off enemy attacks. On Thursday, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) launched a two-pronged offensive, but RSF troops responded swiftly and effectively, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers, according to the RSF’s statement.

The RSF reported that over 250 enemy fighters were killed, with several captured, including a high-ranking SAF officer. Additionally, RSF units destroyed a tank, five combat vehicles, and seized 12 vehicles loaded with weapons and military supplies.

The RSF has denounced the dissemination of false narratives by the SAF and its affiliates, characterizing these reports as mere propaganda intended to deceive the public.

Such efforts to concoct victory narratives are perceived as a sign of desperation from the SAF leadership, RSF said.

The RSF added that they are committed to protecting Sudan from corrupt forces linked to the former regime and aim to restore stability and end decades of suffering.
